Healing the Natural Way
Founder, Joan Wood is a board certified pediatric Occupational Therapist of seven years. Joan leverages the natural, holistic side of ranch life, and extracts these elements as therapeutic tools to support children in need of healing. Her unique approach combines her professional expertise with her deep understanding of the therapeutic potential of agricultural engagement, creating a nurturing and effective environment for children's growth and healing.
Equine Enrichment
Horses have a unique way of holding us accountable for our own presence and energy. From grooming and feeding to riding and interacting with the horses, children reap the benefits of responsibility, accountability and consistency that improves overall sense of self and strength of character. Their sensitivity to our emotions and actions creates a powerful feedback loop, inviting us to be mindful and present. The bond formed with horses fosters empathy, patience, and communication required for development of healthy coping skills and resilience.
Livestock & Horticulture
Children engage weekly in creative garden activities and caring for small livestock. These enrichment opportunities provide a hands-on learning experience, allowing children to understand the process, meaning, and importance of essential life skills. Through these activities, they learn healthy bonding, nurturing, and self-care. The act of tending to plants and animals fosters a sense of responsibility and empathy, while also teaching patience and the rewards of consistent effort. These experiences not only enhance their practical skills but also contribute to their emotional and social development.
